I really need to get to see Ghost Stories but I seem to be failing to manage it. I do think there are certain conventions for how much you tell the audience and when you tell it that certainly work for novels and films. But given that information can now be so easily released at different times to different groups of people on different platforms I suspect that we will find creative ways to subvert those conventions. I do think there are certain conventions for how much you tell the audience and when you tell it that certainly work for novels and films. But given that information can now be so easily released at different times to different groups of people on different platforms I suspect that we will find creative ways to subvert those conventions.

The short stories I have most enjoyed often twist at the very end. Often a surprising denouement will improve my enjoyment of the story. I am making a horror at the moment, and actually have been researching horror in each of the different mediums. The dissemination of information is the most important piece. Any good showman magician only tells you enough. Hitchcock told you enough for the audience to feel they knew. I just saw Ghost Stories which has one of the best set ups to a reveal, accentuated by fantastic sound design, and production design.
